Accreditation of media representatives

All media representatives must be duly accredited well in advance for events organised by the Czech Presidency of the European Union (EU) that are held in the Czech Republic. These events include informal ministerial meetings, EU negotiations with third countries (‘Troikas’) and certain major conferences.

Accreditation for events in the Czech Republic

You can easily access the online accreditation system via the web interface events.eu2009.cz/media. Here, enter your name and e-mail address and confirm. Next you will receive an e-mail with a link that gives you access to the system. Register a password and username for access to the accreditation system at any time during the Czech Presidency and to change or amend your data if necessary.

You must fill in all the following information for accreditation to be completed successfully: personal data, media information and your press pass number or a letter from your editor-in-chief (in Czech or English) in PDF format authorising you to report on the event. You also need to upload a photograph in the required format (applications cannot be processed without the applicant’s photograph).

The final part of the form lists all the events for which you can seek accreditation. You must indicate those events you wish to attend. Accreditation for each event closes seven days before the event. After this deadline, registration will not be possible.

Fill in all the electronic forms with your personal data only once for the whole of the Presidency. When you have completed the registration process, all the data will automatically be sent to the Czech security services for verification. The data will be treated in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act.

A prerequisite for accreditation is the timely provision of all the information required in accordance with the guidelines above, i.e. no later than seven days before the event, together with proof of identity by means of the prescribed documents.

If you register later than seven days before the event, you run a high risk that accreditation will be refused for reasons of time or security. There is no legal entitlement to accreditation. Accreditation is subject to security clearance, which is a very time-consuming process.

Accreditation Badge

On the basis of information entered in the accreditation system and its subsequent verification, an accreditation badge will be prepared for accredited journalists at the accreditation desk. Once duly accredited, you will receive this badge after presenting your identity document. All journalists must wear this non-transferable badge visibly during the whole event. Losses must be reported immediately to accreditation desk staff, who will issue a new badge.

Each badge is valid for the whole duration of the event. If you wish to attend another event, you must not forget to indicate that event in the accreditation system. After due screening, you will receive another badge immediately before this event.

To ensure that the Presidency avoids printing excessive quantities of badges, before your chosen event you will receive an e-mail reminding you to confirm your attendance or to cancel your participation if you are unable to come for any reason.
